To the Editor:
I’d like to express my concern with the people who race down Southvale Road. That street is heavily populated with children and the speed limit is 50 km/h, I would bet on average people do 80 down it. A friend of mine’s dog was hit and killed the other night on that street and yes, they should have had their dog on a leash or their back yard, fenced off, but if the vehicle was doing the speed limit of 50 they should have been able to slow down enough that it wouldn’t have killed the poor dog.
My mom lives on that street as did I with my son for four years and it’s nerve-wracking to let your kids even ride their bikes down the street due to the high speeders on that road. The town needs to post children playing signs and/or enforce the speed limit better on this street so no one’s child gets hit next.
