KINGSTON - Congratulations go to St. Marys Skating Club member Connie Gozzard, who placed second and earned a silver medal in the Preliminary Ladies category during the Provincial 2010 Trillium Starskate Championships held here March 13-14.
Connie, 12, faced a tough field of 11 skaters including the top three skaters from the Central, Northern and Eastern Ontario sections.
Despite a nervous first spin sequence, Connie went on to produce strong jumps, including two axels and a double salchow, and flawless footwork sequences during her two-minute, solo performance.
The silver medal puts the finishing touch to a very successful season, which saw Connie earn five golds and two silvers during her seven singles competitions, and win a Regional Championship title with her Juvenile Synchro team, the Plattsville B-Pizazzed.
