Another robbery downtown

Just over a week after the A Buck or Two store on Queen Street was robbed, another downtown merchant has been struck by a thief.
Sarah Nairn, owner of Little Falls Florist, was helping customers at the front of her Water Street store on Tuesday morning when she heard someone coming in her back door. “I just thought it was someone I knew,” she told the Journal Argus, noting that deliveries come in through her alleyway
entrance.
Nairn says that she helped her customer carry her purchases out to her car, “and that’s when they got to the till.”
She says that she didn’t notice the theft at first, because some money was left in the till. The thief also stole a deposit envelope off her desk.
“I feel violated,” says Nairn, whose store celebrated its first anniversary this past weekend. “I was here, alone, in broad daylight.”
Nairn believes that after the thief entered her back room, he or she waited behind a folding screen that was used to help decorate a wedding reception until she left the store.
“Hopefully they get caught and it never happens again,” Nairn says. St. Marys OPP acting sgt. Scott Bentley said earlier this week that the
police have yet to identify any suspects in either case.
