New Pyramid pool terrific, if a tad too warm
Dear Editor;

On opening day, I enjoyed my first swim in our new Aquatics Centre. Over the years, I have swum in all types of pools, from Amman to Zeeland (a province in the Netherlands).
The St. Marys Pyramid Aquatics Centre Pool tops them all. The high ceilings, with all the bright natural light coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, creates an airy, bright swimming environment. The salt water system eliminates the chlorine smell which is often an unpleasant part of indoor swimming pools.
The change room, with its skylight, is wonderful. My first impression is that the designer and builders of the Centre have done a marvellous job.
Thank you to Katelyn Hudson for life-guarding we swimmers in such a friendly way.
With this pool and the Quarry, St. Marys has the best of indoor and outdoor swimming facilities.
Perhaps one small personal preference niggle. At 84 degrees Fahrenheit, for a vigorous swim, at least on a warm day, the water is perhaps somewhat warmer than it needs to be. Try the water in the a range of 80 to 82 degrees and see how people like it.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible.

Sincerely,

Henry de Young
