School board meeting Tuesday, May 13
Avon Maitland board to meet in St. Marys on new school issue at 8 p.m. at Pyramid Centre
The Avon Maitland District School Board will meet in St. Marys this Tuesday, May 13, so board members can hear input on where an elementary school should be built in town, and in what grade configeration.
The meeting will be structured as a typical board meeting, with the public able to speak only if they apply in advance as a delegation -- to do so, contact the board before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 12 by calling 519-527-0111, ext. 106, or e-mailing info@fc.amdsb.ca with a request.
Delegations will be allowed to speak for a maximum of 10 minutes, which could be cut to five minutes if there are several requests.
At the board’s last meeting on Apr. 22, two detailed proposals for Kindergarten-to-Grade 6 facilities at the Pyramid site were preseneted to the board, with Grades 7 and 8 being placed at DCVI -- with renovations required to accomodate staff.
A K-to-8 facility at the Pyramid Centre proposal -- as recommended by the facilities advisory committee earlier this year -- was not presented to the board, but remains an option, according to the board director Geoff Williams. A vote is expected at the May 27 meeting in Seaforth.
