The Rotary Club of St. Marys has again donated to St. Marys minor ball.
Club president Doug Goudy recently presented a cheque for $500 to the local association.
“We estimate these guys have been sponsors for over 50 years!,” says Tom Bishop, St. Marys minor ball’s Sponsorship Coordinator.

•St. Marys minor ball held its annual ‘Sponsor Weekend’ fundraising draw this past Saturday at the CBHFM diamonds.
Erin Lucas, of St. Marys, won first prize—breakfast with soon-to-be Canadian Hall of Famer Larry Walker and an autographed Expos’ jersey (donated by Dunny’s Sports). Erin is a player with the National Leasing Mites’ softball team in town.
Other big prize winners Saturday included: Grant McKellar, $300 Claude Electric gift card; Liam Kelly, Blue Jays’ tickets and $150 cash; Pam Young, Blue Jays tickets and $100 cash; Judy Hayes, four tickets to London Knights’ OHL game; Lynn Lamers, two Buffalo Sabres tickets and passes to a restaurant; Ann Levy, Blue Jays’ tickets; and Sheri Unich, Blue Jays’ tickets.

•The Exterminators won the annual Co-ed Slow Pitch tournament this past weekend at the King ball diamond at the arena.

Twelve teams took part in the St. Marys Ladies Slow Pitch fundraiser.

•Dan Bylsma of the Pittsburgh Penguins is now the second former Lincoln (1986-88) to coach a Stanley Cup winner.
Bylsma, a native of Grand Haven, Mich., achieved the feat in his rookie season with the Pens. Pittsburgh defeated the defending champion Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in Game 7 last Friday night.
Ex-Lincoln Terry Crisp, who played two seasons in St. Marys in the late 1950s/early ‘60s, coached Calgary Flames to the Cup in 1989—defeating Montreal Canadiens.
In an Associated Press story Monday, Bylsma said he would like Penguins to “repeat” as Cup champs next season.
No NHL team has had back-to-back Cup wins since the Red Wings in 1997 and ‘98.

•The Baseball Hall of Fame is looking for 50-50 sellers for two upcoming Toronto Blue Jays’ games at the Rogers Centre.
The first is Saturday, June 27 versus Philadelphia Phillies and the second is Wednesday, July 1 (Canada Day) versus Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Both games start at 1 p.m.
The Hall is looking for 30 sellers each day so please let Scott Crawford (519-284-1838) know if you can help. Remember you only sell until the end of the third inning, and then you get to watch the rest of the game!

•At the recent Avon Maitland District School Board East Region track and field meet at Stratford Central, Adam Gibb of Downie Central won both the 100 and 200-metre dashes as well as the Peewee boys’ long jump.
