St. Marys Curling Club is hosting its 2nd annual fun Harvest Mixer bonspiel on the Nov. 20-21 weekend.
It begins on the Friday night with one game, and two games will be played on the Saturday. There will be two draws, each consisting of three, six-end games.
The club’s executive puts on the Harvest Mixer ‘spiel for a few reasons:
(1) To get the membership out and meet other curlers in the club who you may or may not know.
(2) All proceeds from the bonspiel to go to the club’s ‘Capital Reserve Fund’.
(3) An opportunity for friends and family of club members to curl or socialize.
SMOKE LOOKING FOR FRIDAY NIGHT TIMEKEEPER
The defending champion St. Marys Smoke is looking for a timekeeper for Friday night North Oxford Rural Hockey League games, starting at 9:30 p.m. at the PRC.
It’s a good opportunity for community hours for high school students. The fee is $20 per game.
If interested, contact Jared Frayne at 519-284-3819.
RINGETTE JUNIORS DROP TOUGH 3-2 DECISION TO WATERLOO
The St. Marys Junior ‘A’ team (all first-year Junior-aged players) dropped a hard-fought 3-2 Western Ontario Ringette League (WORL) decision to the Waterloo Wildfire Saturday afternoon at the Pyramid Centre.
Taylor Simpson and Kennedy Warren scored for St. Marys, and goalie Brienna Lee Feeney played well.
The previous Saturday (Oct. 24) in Waterloo, the teams skated to a 3-3 tie.
The St. Marys team, coached by Donna O’Hara and Peter Westelaken, currently has a league record of one win, two losses and one tie. All players on the Junior squad are 14, except for two under-age players.
Next up for the Juniors is a tournament, Nov. 13-15, in London.
